Psychoeducational Consultation

Family member suffering mental illness? Want help helping? Many times when a family member is suffering mental illness, others they love are left with many questions few are able and willing to answer. Generally, the person suffering the mental illness lacks the insight and motivation to accurately describe their problems to those who love them. Involved mental health professionals may be too busy to fully address your concerns and can be prevented from doing so by confidentiality obligations. As hard as it can be to get answers about a mental health problem a loved one is experiencing, research shows that interested and educated family members play a critical role in the recovery process. Success Development Services now offers Psychoeducational Consultations for family members of those with mental illness. Through us, you can have a fully licensed psychotherapist visit your home and teach you and your entire family the things you need to know about various mental illnesses to help your loved one get all the proper support they need. Due to ethical concerns, this therapist will not work directly with the suffering family member, nor will he have access to specific medical or psychological records. All work will be conducted in terms of working with the family itself to improve their general understanding of the mental health problem and develop strategies specific to the needs and abilities of their family. The suffering family member will be allowed to participate personally if they desire to, but need not, and should not be made to feel pressured into doing so. Our standard fee is currently $120 a session for In-Home Consultation in the Orland Park area. An additional fee may be required for more distant travel.

Clinical Supervision for LPCs

Are you a LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in the state of Illinois who needs Clinical Supervision so that you can qualify for your LCPC license? Then I’m here to help you. When I was a LPC, the social service agency I worked for didn’t offer clinical supervision, so I had to find a clinical supervisor on my own. It was a nightmare that I wouldn’t want anybody else to have to experience. Now that I am able to provide clinical supervision myself, I would like to make it easier for new therapists to get the support they need to achieve their advanced license. Supervision will occur once a week at my office in Orland Park. Meetings will be at least one hour long, but I won’t rush you out after an hour if there are still important things things to work on. I believe Clinical Supervision is a cooperative mentoring relationship where I will do my best to encourage and inspire you to be the best therapist you can be. During clinical Supervision, we will regularly talk about your current case load, challenges presented by each of your clients as well as areas where you could benefit from professional growth. We will regularly review case notes, assessments and treatment plans. We will work to assure outcome based, goal oriented quality control. We will discuss all of your clients each and every week. We will work collaboratively to formulate the best possible treatment for every one of your clients.

Unfortunately, I am not currently hiring employees or expanding my practice. You must be working at a social service agency or community mental health clinic of some sort where you will be seeing their clients as an employee. I provide clinical supervision only. The Illinois Professional Counselor and Clinical Professional Counselor Licensing Act allows LPCs to practice their profession under a number of circumstances, but that experience only counts towards your LCPC license requirements if the right kind of Clinical Supervision accompanies it. You may not work in your own “private practice” as a LPC and see your own clients even with me as a clinical supervisor. My fee for Clinical Supervision is $100 per week.
