Check out lesson nine right below the picture. I changed it a bit. Let me know if that helps.

I had some problems with Chapters 3 & 4 because some of the things were hard to find and understand. I had problems with the installation of some of them - namely gMax because of the registration process they have in place is f***ed. Also, the locating the blue rainbow icon in Lesson 4, it was on the right for me, not on the left. Nothing major in either case, I eventually found them-it just slowed me down a bit.

Gmax is a stripped down version of 3Ds max. Gmax is free and 3Dsmax is several hundread dollars. 3Dsmax is better but your gonnna hae to pay a lot for it.
Nwmax is an ADD ON to Gmax and 3DsMax. I cant imagine not using it.
I have no idea what Blender is

Hi Negalith, I came over to your forum because of your reply to my post over at bioware. I started using your explanation as a guide because it seems so much simpler than the one that I was recommended. I downloaded everything that you said except for the NWexplorer. I DON'T have it in my utilities folder and was wondering if there's some way I can download it? thanks...actually i just found it. And when I tried to get to the Hak files like you said, it crashed! ONLY the hak files, any other of the trees I opened except for that one! what do I do?

The first thing I recomend is to try again to see if it was just a fluke
The second thing I recomend is to try to make a back up folder for your HAK pack files and move all but one of your Hak Packs from the HAK folder to the new back up folder and try to use NWexplorer again.
I recomend trying this because it sounds like one of the HAKs in the folder may be corrupt and is crashing NWexplorer.
Tell me how this works out and well go from there.

you rock! and you're right! there were 3 offending files. The Kingmaker, shadowguard, and witches wake. I took them out and placed them on the desktop...and now I can open the hak files from nwnexplorer. Can I get rid of them? I don't plan on using them, I just want to build a module and play the original game...anyway, i continued with the tutorial. I did as you said, but I didn't have a folder with models in it like you said in lesson 4. Instead, I had several branches all starting with CEP2_core something...each of them had a model section. One of them had the types of creature models in it (all beginning with c_) but I couldn't find the axebreak you said to open up first. Is it possible I did something wrong when installing the CEP? I downloaded the giant nearly 400mb file (containing everything) and it appeared as a shield icon (exe). I clicked on it, it installed itself and I was done. Is there some reason why set up doesn't look like the one you described?

I see the problem......
This forum and tutorial was origionally written to help people helping with the CCP project The Community Creature Project. The Axbeak is in there. ... You tired to open the CEP Community Expansion Pack.
The CCP I was refering to was only distributed to a few people associalted with this project in a Beta version.....
For you to learn.... open any model file you like... Its about the same.

I used a different file and it worked. I was able to save it to a different folder. When I tried to import it though, through the MDL loading, and i tried to import it said, "-unknown property: rdo_options:in rollout:import rollout. So i tried import MDL. I selected the Aurora base and changed the name and selected the hammer. But there is no sanity check button or export button. Is there any other way to get to that? thanks

A friend of mine gave me his copy of 3dsmax 8, although its not the up-to-date version, he told me it will work for what I would like to do. Now I just need to find an easy-to-understand tutorial. Any suggestions? Or would this tutorial thread be sufficient? CCP audit version, where do I find it to download?

Give it a try most 3DSMAX versions are pretty similar.
